Jobs and Internships

Style Internship

Does your heart beat a little faster with a fresh interior design magazine in hand? Do you love shopping for home décor items or rearranging your furniture? Do you enjoy keeping up with what’s current around town—as well as learning about the history that influences the latest trends in design? Are you considering a writing or style-related career at a magazine or design firm? Let’s talk!

As a Style Intern at Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine you will gain valuable professional experience assisting the Market Editor with the Style pages. You will participate directly in the day-to-day editorial and publishing process—watching the steps of an issue’s cycle firsthand. Specific opportunities depend upon the publishing calendar, as well as your experience, talent and interests, but will most likely include some of the following:

o    conduct online trend and product research
o    scout products for Style stories at local retail stores
o    check facts in articles
o    contact press and marketing representatives for media-ready imagery
o    meet professional writers and photographers
o    meet design professionals at Seattle Design Center
o    compile product resource information for articles
o    assist with photo shoots in studio or on location
o    accompany Market Editor on scouting visits
o    write short articles for print publication
o    create Web-exclusive copy for seattlehomesmag.com
o    participate in editorial story and headline meetings
o    other duties as needed

Our internships are unpaid and require a minimum commitment of 20 hours spread out over three to four days a week, usually during regular business hours. Internships last from three to six months.
