Editor's Letter
Marching Forward
In this issue of Seattle Homes & Lifestyles, we take a seat in the finest chairs we can find. We also indulge in a trio of great home transformations. Settle into your favorite chair and join us

A chance to sneak a peek at Dale Chihuly’s amazing collection of vintage designer chairs, stored in his Tacoma studio space, was our inspiration to focus on chairs this month. Looking at these timeless designs prompted us to explore what today’s designers are creating—and we found much to love. I suppose it’s no coincidence that a chair (or more than one) appears on almost every page of this magazine—and even on the cover.

The second inspiration for this issue was the universal appeal of “before-and-after” stories. Here at SH&L, we’re fascinated by transformations—the more dramatic the better.

Our Home section features a somewhat reserved take on the topic of “makeovers”: three remodels that homeowners requested and implemented with the help of their interior designers and architects. Our back-page column, Room for Improvement reveals the handiwork of a designer who transforms individual rooms every day through his work as a home stager.

If you’ve seen any great transformations in your neighborhood—or if you live in one yourself—we’d love to hear about it. Just send us some digital snapshots (no need for professional photos) of both the before and after, along with a short note describing the changes. We’d love to consider your ideas for our next Room for Improvement page.
